Health authorities warn no internationally certified rapid test kits for chikungunya available locally

The Centre for Health Protection reminded the public that no internationally certified rapid test kits for chikungunya virus are currently available in Hong Kong markets.
This after recent online ads emerged, promoting rapid self-test kits purportedly for the mosquito-borne disease.
CHP contacted the manufacturer, who confirmed the kits are not intended for public self-testing.
Suppliers in Hong Kong have been instructed to suspend local sales immediately.
No new chikungunya cases have been recorded in Hong Kong today.
