Heavy rain continues to lash multiple Chinese provinces.

In Jinzhai County of Anhui Province, torrential downpours early Sunday triggered flooding in villages.

Under the unsettled weather, dramatic footage captured precarious scenes of two cars being struck by lightning.

China's meteorological department has predicted heavy downpours in Anhui Province before the coming Thursday.

However, in the early hours of Sunday morning, Jinzhai County was already pounded by heavy rain.

The downpours sent rivers surging over their banks, inundating key roads leading to the village.

To prevent villagers from crossing the river, authorities set up cordons at the site, posted guards, and evacuated residents overnight.

Anhui Province has issued early geological disaster and flash flood warnings.

In landslide-ravaged Yuzhong County of Gansu Province, all emergency access roads have been cleared.

Also restored are power grids and telecommunication signals.

Search and rescue efforts in the worst-hit areas of Maliantan Village continue.

Farther east in Shandong Province, multiple districts have been pummelled by heavy rain and flooding as well. Rural farmlands, waterlogged. Authorities mobilised multiple departments for response efforts.

While Guangxi Province was spared from flooding, precarious scenes of lightning strikes were captured. A moving car struck by thunderbolts which sent sparks flying across the metal body. A similar incident occurred on a Zhejiang highway. An auto repair expert says a vehicle's metal shell can help channel the electrical current safely to the ground. They advise drivers to keep windows closed, avoid using electronics and -- if possible -- pull into the nearest service area during a thunderstorm.
