Devastation in Gansu's Yuzhong County after mountain torrents

Mountain torrents triggered by heavy rainstorms in Yuzhong County in northwest China's Gansu Province have left at least 15 people dead and 28 missing.
The mountain torrents flooded farmlands, damaged houses and caused severe damage to roads, power supply and other facilities.
Torrential rain began pounding Yuzhong County on Thursday evening, with maximum precipitation reaching 220 mm.
Gansu Provincial Meteorological Bureau says 15 hours of rainfall reported there exceeded half of its station's annual average.
