A watch shop in Tsim Sha Tsui is suspected of using a safe with a "back door" to defraud two customers of luxury watches worth more than 4 million dollars. Two Hong Kong men were arrested by police. One more suspect absconded to Macao.

The arrested pair, aged 34 and 43, were the alleged masterminds and driver.

They claimed to work as a construction worker and a truck driver, both charged with conspiracy to defraud.

The incident happened on Monday.

Police combed through surveillance footage and found that accomplices responsible for selling stolen goods arrived at the shop in advance.

When the watches were stolen from the back opening of the safe, the alleged mastermind escaped by van.

One of the watches was later sold at a watch store on Nathan Road for 1.73 million dollars. One suspect fled to Macau through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
