Hospital Authority to make more hires to handle medical fee waiver applications

The Hospital Authority says it will make more hires and establish a dedicated task force to handle medical waiver applications.
This as the estimated number of beneficiaries of the public healthcare fees and charges reform to be introduced next year increase to 1.4 million.
In response to media enquiries, HA said in addition to processing applications for waiver, the task force will also work to reduce the need to double-check patients' income and asset information.
To streamline the approval process, the Hospital Authority will make reference to the applicants' means test eligibility under other social welfare and government subsidy schemes during vetting.
HA will regularly review the manpower needs while incorporating more digital methods.
