In response to the imported cases of Chikungunya fever in Hong Kong, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) has stepped up mosquito control efforts in various districts.

This morning, workers conducted mosquito control operations on a section of Boundary Street outside Fa Hui Park.

Insecticide was sprayed on the grass. According to the FEHD's last month's Gravidtrap Index, Sham Shui Po East, where the Fa Hui area is located, reached the yellow level, indicating widespread of mosquitos of the Adedes albopictus type.

In many districts, the FEHD is continuing to collaborate with governments departments and stakeholders to strengthen patrols, particularly at construction sites and locations with higher mosquito risk.

They are stepping up efforts to clear stagnant water and apply larvicides such as mosquito sand to stagnant water.
