In the U.S., two 15-year-olds from Maryland have been arrested in connection with the attempted carjacking and beating of a former member of the Department of Government Efficiency, also known as DOGE.

The assault took place early Sunday in Washington's Logan Circle neighbourhood.

Police say around 10 teens attacked the victim while he was trying to stop the group from taking his vehicle.

Two of the assailants were arrested while attempting to flee the scene.

The victim was identified as Edward Coristine, nicknamed "Big Balls," who played a key role in the DOGE initiative to slash federal bureaucracy.

U.S. President Donald Trump described the crime in D.C. as "out of control" and renewed his call for a federal takeover of the capital city.
