Israeli media is reporting Benjamin Netanyahu is proposing a full occupation of Gaza. The prime minister still has to convince senior officials to back his plan.
Benjamin Netanyahu says he'll convene the cabinet later this week with the aim of instructing his military on how to proceed in Gaza.
Israeli media reports say the prime minster will propose a full occupation and what he called the "conquest" of the strip.
The leader says Israel must achieve three goals: Defeat Hamas, release hostages and guarantee Gaza is no longer a threat.
Some senior of members of the government are said to be against re-occupation. They fear such a move would endanger the lives of hostages.
Netanyahu seems undeterred by videos last week that showed emaciated Hamas-held captives, near death.
Rom Braslavski was shown in a Hamas video in agony and unable to stand. His family allowed it to be released.
His father Ofir, spoke in front of a poster of his son as he continues his campaign to get him free. Ofir pleads for Rom's life to be spared.

Meanwhile, Israel's Defence Minister assessed the situation on the ground in Gaza today.
Israel Katz toured the region and met with IDF commanders ahead of planning the next move.
Aid drops continue as starvation grips. This parachuting in of supplies has increased in recent days as Israel relaxed restrictions after intense international pressure.
More food and medicines are getting in but aid groups say it is not enough with some packages not reaching the people who need them most.
