Government warns of two websites posing as pages for public transport subsidy scheme

The Transport Department alerted the public to avoid two fraudulent websites posing as sites for the government's Public Transport Fare Subsidy Scheme.
Neither website displays the "gov.hk" indicator that authenticates government websites.
The Transport Department said the phony websites attempted to trick residents into providing their personal information such as names, identification documents, mobile phone numbers and credit card accounts.
The case has already been referred to the police.
Authorities reminded residents to stay vigilant of suspicious websites or when receiving texts from unknown sources.
