State media CCTV recently aired rare footage of a military drill involving coordinated operations between drones and People's Liberation Army ground troops.
It marks the first time the PLA have publicly disclosed real combat-style exercises testing unmanned warfare.
The PLA say the exercise aims to integrate battlefield tactics with tech innovation, in preparation for high-intensity, high-casualty warfare scenarios.
