South Korea's historic presidential compound Cheong Wa Dae, popularly known as the Blue House, has closed its doors to the public.
This as preparations begin for President Lee Jae-myung's plan to move the presidential office back to the site later this year.
For more than 70 years, Cheong Wa Dae had been the office and residence of 12 former presidents until 2022.
Former leader Yoon Suk-yeol moved the presidential office to Yongshan in 2022 and turned the Blue House
into a popular tourist attraction.
When the current president was campaigning for the country's top office, he had made returning the presidential office to Cheong Wa Dae one of his core campaign promises.
The government said it will consider reopening parts of the complex to the public once facility upgrades and safety checks are complete, although a timeline has yet to be agreed.
