Watchdog investigates former special counsel Jack Smith

An investigation has been opened into former U.S special counsel Jack Smith who led two criminal cases against Donald Trump.

The Office of Special Counsel is investigating Smith on allegations he engaged in political activity through his inquiries into Trump.

This came as several U.S. cities saw demonstrations against the president designed to highlight what activists say is is excessive force used during his first six months in office.
