First locally transmitted chikungunya case in Macao

Macao reports the first locally transmitted case of chikungunya fever.
The patient is a 34-year-old man, who resides in Jardim Kong Fok On in Areia Preta and works at a construction site where another worker who earlier came down with chikungunya.
Macao health authorities say that he developed a sore throat on July 27th with no fever or joint pain.
He tested negative for the chikungunya virus on the same day.
But on Friday, he developed rashes on his upper limbs and chest.
When seeking medical attention at hospital, he tested positive for the virus.
Based on his recent travel records and period of symptoms,
he was classified as the first local chikungunya case in the enclave.
