One of the defendants who killed a Hong Kong immigrant in Canada was convicted of manslaughter and was sentenced to 16 months of probation.
Kenneth Lee, a Hong Kong immigrant, was attacked and killed by eight underage girls in Toronto on the street on December 18, 2022.
The 59-year-old was also stabbed in the heart with a sharp weapon. At that time, the police said some attackers were trying to steal the wine of Lee's friend.
The Ontario Superior Court of Justice on Friday found the last defendant of the case guilty of manslaughter. Considering that she was only 14 years old at the time of the crime, she was sentenced to three years in prison and 20 months less than her sentence.
Noting that her four strip searches in the correctional facility had left a psychological impact, the judge handed down a 16-month suspended sentence.
The defendant publicly apologised in court, saying she was willing to take the responsibility.
