Lawmakers issued a joint statement, backing the Hong Kong administration's efforts to safeguard national security.
The lawmakers made a statement through the Legislative Council Secretariat, stating that safeguarding national security is the highest principle of "One Country, Two Systems". They say the so-called "Hong Kong Parliamentary Election" held overseas seriously violates the Basic Law and the National Security Law of Hong Kong, which seriously undermines the Constitution, and the constitutional order of the SAR as determined by the Basic Law. The legislators say they resolutely oppose how Western politicians use double standards to make biased, inaccurate and smearing remarks.
