Shue Yan University's founder Henry Hu dies at the age of 105

Founder and President of the Hong Kong Shue Yan University has passed away at the age of 105.

Born in Zhejiang Province in 1920, Henry Hu started his legal practice in the field of international law in Hong Kong after qualifying as a barrister in the UK.

Hu strived to improve livelihoods in the SAR and advocated for the acceptance of Chinese as an official legal language.

In 1971, Hu formed the Shue Yan College with his wife.

In 2006, the government recognised the college as Hong Kong's first private university.

Hu was appointed Justice of the Peace in 1976 and received the Gold Bauhinia Star and Grand Bauhinia Medal in 1998 and 2008, respectively.
