Police arrested a 17-year-old boy on Friday for his alleged connection to a drug case that led to the death of his 16-year-old friend.

This is the second case of a suspected fatal drug overdose in the city in a week.

On Thursday, a 16-year-old teenager was found unconscious at his home in Heng Fa Cheun. He was pronounced dead at Eastern Hospital.

In his bedroom, the police found 14 grams of cannabis buds, two e-cigarette cartridges, two e-cigarette machines and five millimetres of suspected liquid methamphetamine.

In a press conference on Saturday, the force said the teen's cause of death will be confirmed after an autopsy, but authorities suspect that the tragedy is linked to the intake of the "space oil drug."

After an investigation, the police arrested another teen -- the deceased's 17-year-old friend. Authorities said the suspect had visited his friend and supplied him with the drugs. The suspect has a triad background.

A similar incident also happened on the 20th of this month. A 17-year-old teen fainted at a So Uk Estate unit in Cheung Sha Wan and was certified dead at hospital.

During an investigation, the police seized several drugs, including space oil, in his bedroom.

The police urge parents to pay more attention to their children over the summer break and look out for any unusual behaviour that may be related to drugs.

A social worker said if several types of drugs are taken together, the danger would be higher. Parents should beware if their children carry the smell of chemicals.
