Guangzhou and Shenzhen to hold opening and closing of National Games

The 15th National Games will be held in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao from November 9 to 21.
The event schedule will be announced next month.
Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan said the Hong Kong government is working on making it easier for mainland fans to come to the city to watch the games.
The State Council Information Office detailed the National Games in Beijing.
The body said the opening ceremony will take place in Guangzhou and the closing ceremony will be held in Shenzhen.
The General Administration of Sport of China said refurbishment work for the venues are complete,
and more than half of the test events are finished.
The National Games will feature 34 major sports competitions.
It is expected that 57 events will be completed before the opening.
15,000 athletes are taking part in the main Games.
The event scheduling website will be launched on August 3.
Hong Kong and Macao will hold large-scale countdown events on August 1 and 2.
Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan said the Hong Kong government is trying to simplify visa arrangements for incoming mainland fans, making it easier for them to come and watch events in Hong Kong.
He said fans can take tours of the Greater Bay Area as they watch the Games, merging sports and tourism.
