Soft meal dine-in services are available at a major restaurant and fast food chain starting today.
The soft meals make it possible for those with swallowing difficulties to consume food.
A major local restaurant and fast food chain has launched specially designed soft meals tailored for people with swallowing difficulties.
Its menu includes traditional Chinese dim sum and Western set meals. The Chinese option features a Dim Sum platter, with shrimp dumpling, siu mai and turnip cake.
Algernon Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development was there to try out the food.
According to the company, many seniors suffering from swallowing difficulties do not have much appetite for home-made minced or pureed meals.
The company is now offering visually appealing and nutritionally balanced meals, which help to restore the seniors' joy for dining.
"Our objective is to serve the needs regarding those with some difficulty swallowing," said Keith Siu, Chief Operating Officer of Maxim's Group. "If they have some swallowing issues, I think they do not feel good in the past. But right now, we provide very good meal in terms of the taste, the shape and also the smell to them."
The group will partner with the Hong Kong Council of Social Service and other institutions to promote care food across the city. The company said it will distribute 15,000 free soft meal servings to nearly 200 elderly care homes.
The company said the product will be offered in various districts. They hope people with swallowing difficulties will be able to enjoy the nutritious soft meals with their family.
