A sightseeing ship crashed into the China Merchants Wharf in Kennedy Town when Typhoon Wipha swept past the city on Sunday.

Sources say the owner of the ship is making arrangements for the vessel to be towed away.

Two days after the storm, the ship M/V Dragon Pearl is still at the China Merchants Wharf.

Dents are visible on the starboard side of the vessel.

Marine Department staff boarded the ship this morning to take photos.

The department had contacted the ship owner to arrange for an inspection of the vessel.

According to law, after a ship collision, the ship's owner or agent, or the vessel's captain must immediately report to the director of marine and submit details about the incident within 24 hours.

The Marine Department is investigating Sunday's incident and will make prosecutions if violations of Shipping Ordinances are found.
