Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his negotiator had sent a proposal to Russia to resume peace talks next week. This as Moscow launched more heavy airstrikes on Ukraine.

In his regular address, Zelenskyy said the head of Ukraine's delegation, Rustem Umerov, suggested holding the third round of direct peace talks next week.

Russia and Ukraine held second round of talks in June but little progress was made apart from an agreement to exchange thousands of dead and injured soldiers.

Meanwhile, in Odesa, one person was killed in Russian strikes. Zelenskyy said more than 300 drones and 30 cruise missiles were fired during the attack.

Odesa was heavily targeted, with five people rescued from a fire in a high-rise building. Six others, including a child, were wounded.
