Observatory issued Strong Wind Signal No. 3 at 2:20

The Strong Wind Signal No. 3 was issued at 2:20 p.m.

This means that winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour are expected.

Wipha will edge rather close to the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary tomorrow (20 July).

Local winds are expected to reach gale to storm force. There will be frequent heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.

Depending on the distance between Wipha and the Pearl River Estuary, its intensity and the change in local wind condition, the Observatory will consider issuing the Gale or Storm Signal No. 8 in the small hours tomorrow.
