Standby Signal No. 1 will be issued between tonight and early Saturday

According to the present forecast, Wipha will enter within 800 kilometres of Hong Kong tonight to early tomorrow (19 July). The Observatory will issue the Standby Signal, No. 1 by then.

Wipha is expected to intensify progressively and edge closer to the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary and the coast of western Guangdong afterwards.

The Observatory will consider issuing the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 during the day tomorrow.

Wipha will be closest to the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary on Sunday.

The rainstorm warning has been cancelled, but people should stay alert to the danger that may be brought about by river flooding.
