Foundation works for the MTR Oyster Bay Station have been suspended after five monitoring checkpoints found upheaval movements exceeded the pre-set trigger level.
The government said during the precautionary grouting works for the Oyster Bay Station project on Lantau Island, upheaval movements of 22 to 48 millimetres were recorded on Tuesday at five monitoring checkpoints installed on the section of the Tung Chung Line railway tracks near Siu Ho Wan Depot.
The upheaval data logged exceeded the pre-set trigger level for works suspension of 20mm.
The government and the MTR have requested the building professionals responsible for the project to formulate mitigation measures and adopt construction methods that would alleviate possible effects on the railway facilities.
