The Centre for Health Protection says Hong Kong's latest active COVID-19 cycle has come to an end.
CHP said as of last Saturday, all indicators of COVID-19 activity had dropped to the lower levels seen before April.
The viral load in sewage surveillance samples dipped from 770,000 copies per litre in mid-May to 140,000 per litre in the past week.
The proportion of respiratory samples testing COVID-positive also declined from a peak of 13.8 percent to 2.53 percent.
Authorities said COVID has become a common respiratory virus infection.
Most infected patients experience relatively mild symptoms.
With that, the government will stop providing free oral COVID medication to private doctors, starting July 29th.
