China's economy grew 5.2 percent year-on-year from April to June despite the trade war with the U.S.
In the first half of the year, the Chinese GDP grew at 5.3 percent.
Speaking at a press conference this morning, Sheng Laiyun, deputy director of the National Bureau of Statistics, said China's economy is stable and improving.
He said production demand is steadily growing and employment is stable.
China's economy slowed in the last quarter as President Donald Trump's trade war escalated, but it still expanded at a robust 5.2 percent pace.
That compares with 5.4 percent annual growth from January to March.
