Remnants of Tropical Cyclone Danas brought unsettled weather to Hong Kong last week, prompting the government to announce class suspension on Friday -- one day in advance.

But the move sparked criticism after the weather turned out to be not as adverse as expected on Friday.

Today, Chief Executive John Lee said the decision by the Steering Committee on Handling Extreme Weather was an absolutely correct one, adding that they tried to make "advanced arrangements" and will learn from the experience.

JOHN LEE, Chief Executive (Voice of Translator): "The series of instructions were given to make advance preparations and minimise the risks. I acknowledge their efforts. These government departments have done a lot and I believe this is what we should continue to do in the future."
