Trump to offer Ukraine missile defence systems

Donald Trump said the U.S. will send "sophisticated" military equipment to Ukraine as he criticised Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Washington is offering Patriot missile defence systems as Russian drone and missile attacks on Ukraine continue.
"I haven't agreed on the number yet," said Trump. "But they're going to have some because they do need protection. But the European Union is paying for it. We're not paying anything for it, but we will send it. It'll be business for us and we will send them Patriots, which they desperately need because Putin really surprised a lot of people. He talks nice and then he bombs everybody in the evening. There's a little bit of a problem there and I don't like it."
Trump's relationship with Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appears to be improving after an argument in the Oval Office earlier this year.
The U.S. president's special envoy to Ukraine Keith Kellogg was welcomed in Kyiv today. The Ukraine government says talks will focus on "defence, security and weapons."
