Wang Yi welcomes Sergei Lavrov ahead of SCO foreign ministers' meeting

Russia's top diplomat Sergei Lavrov is in China to attend the ministerial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, or SCO. The meeting begins in Tianjin tomorrow.
Yesterday, Lavrov was welcomed by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing.
Wang said China is willing to work with Russia and other SCO member states to prepare for the upcoming Tianjin meeting. He suggested holding a series of commemorative activities to mark the 80th anniversary of victory in World War Two.
Lavrov pledged to deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields and fully support China as it holds the rotating presidency of the SCO.
The parties reportedly exchanged views on relations with the U.S., the outlook for settling the Ukrainian crisis, and issues such as the Korean Peninsula and Iran.
