The Court of Appeal began hearing appeals by 13 pro-democracy activists involved in the city's landmark subversion case. The appeals are expected to take around 10 days.

The 13 activists, including Lam Cheuk-ting, Leung Kwok-hung, Wong Pik-wan and Ho Kwai-lam, were brought to the West Kowloon Law Courts earlier today.

They were earlier slapped with jail sentences ranging from four years and five months to seven years and nine months.

The 13 pan-democrats were part of a group of 47 charged with conspiracy to commit subversion, of which 45 were found guilty.

Several of them, including former lawmaker Claudia Mo, have already been released after completing their sentences.
