Early morning fire at Lai King Estate leaves 78-year-old man dead

A fire at Lai King Estate in Kwai Chung claimed the life of a 78-year-old man early this morning.
The fire started in a third floor flat of Wo King House before 5 a.m. Firefighters extinguished the flames after about 40 minutes.
The body of the man was discovered in the unit. He lived alone in the flat and his living space was said to be extremely cluttered.
Firefighters rescued four other people from the building. Two of them were hospitalised for smoke inhalation.
Around 50 residents were evacuated from the building during the fire.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the incident.
