Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on Saturday during his three-day visit to the country.

Lavrov and Kim held talks in the eastern resort city of Wonsan, a day after Russia's top diplomat met his North Korean counterpart Choe Son-hui.

Lavrov conveyed greetings from President Vladimir Putin and told Kim that the Russian leader "looks forward to continuing direct contacts with you in the near future."

Having earlier described relations between the two countries as an "invincible fighting brotherhood," Lavrov said Kim was ready to "unconditionally support" all actions taken by Moscow to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

North Korea has supplied thousands of troops and ammunition to Russia in return for military and economic assistance.

Lavrov also warned the U.S., South Korea and Japan against forming a security partnership targeting North Korea.
