At the ASEAN "10+3" foreign ministers' meeting in Malaysia, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said it is ever more necessary for countries to eliminate interference and advance the regional integration process in the increasingly complex international landscape.

Wang affirmed China's commitment to using its own stable economic growth to inject new impetus into East Asia's common development.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Politburo, was at Thursday's ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers' Meeting, which included the bloc's 10 member states as well as China, Japan and South Korea.

Noting the need to focus on development and promoting cooperation, Wang said the countries are still facing challenges such as protectionism, unilateralism, and the abuse of tariffs by certain major powers.

Wang suggested advancing the integration process of East Asia with opposition to "walls and barriers." He said China is ready to continue to jointly strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in production and supply chains.

To foster a strong and resilient Asia, Wang has called on all parties to plan the future direction of regional financial cooperation, while developing local currency bond markets and regional financial safety nets.

The Chinese foreign minister also expressed Beijing's willingness to work with other countries in elevating the level of regional food security cooperation. This, as he puts it, is on the basis of enhancing the 10+3 Emergency Rice Reserve Mechanism.

Additionally, Wang advised countries to hold on to the new wave of technological and industrial revolutions and drive transformation and development with innovation.

Wang added China is willing to cooperate with ASEAN countries in areas such as artificial intelligence, digitalisation and green development.
