The latest casualty amid the string of restaurant closures in Hong Kong is one-Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant Xin Dau Ji.

A catering sector trade union said its last branch in Kowloon Bay Shopping Centre, Megabox, ended its service for good on Wednesday. The union has not received any requests for help from employees.

Since its opening more than 10 years ago, Xin Dau Ji had focused on traditional Cantonese cuisine, most famous for its roasted suckling pig.

The Labour Department said it had contacted the management of the eatery to urge the affected employees to properly handle the arrears of wages and termination compensation.

Employees are also urged to register their information with relevant authorities as soon as possible.
