Vocational Training Council rolls out new programmes for DSE candidates

Results of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education, or HKDSE will be released next Wednesday. 

Students interested in vocational courses will have some new options at the Vocational Training Council such as Chinese medicine and artificial intelligence.

Jiselle sat for the HKDSE exams a few years ago, however her results were below expectation.

She decided to enrol in the Vocational Training Council's Diploma of Foundation Studies, then progressed to the Higher Diploma programme in public relations.

Jiselle,VTC graduate said: "I have many activities and opportunities I could join and do in the public relations school. Therefore I can skilfully apply my knowledge in public relations, event planning and digital promotion to showcase my creativity and fortunately winning the prize."

This year, the VTC is offering more than 140 programmes, including Higher Diploma and Diploma of Vocational Education, with a quota of 13,000."

The new programmes include Chinese medicine, artificial intelligence and sports.  

Jerry Kwok, Senior Assistant Executive Director, Headquarters (Academic Services), VTC said:"Currently the competition ratio especially for the Higher Diploma in Chinese medicines professional and operation is about 11 to 1. It is observed that our students are interested in this kind of new programme."

Fresh applicants have to create an account through the VTC's portal or apply in person at its campuses. 

Applicants who have received conditional offers will have their offers converted to "firm offers" if their DSE results meet the requirements.

These applicants have to confirm whether they accept their offers through the portal before 4 p.m. on the day DSE results are released.
