The U.S.-initiated trade war has posed challenges to Hong Kong's position as a global financial centre.
One of the city's most respected business and infrastructure entrepreneurs, Gordon Wu, said on TVB's Straight Talk programme that Hong Kong continues to offer many advantages amid a tense geopolitical situation.
GORDON WU, Chairman and Co-founder, Hopewell Holdings Gorgon Wu said "Money is very fickle. They come in and they go out, like tides. But one thing that is attractive is our low tax rate, our tax structure. There is no capital gain (tax), there is no inheritance tax. And our tax systems are probably one of the most favourable apart from Monaco."
Wu, who has built a wide range of infrastructure projects in Hong Kong, mainland China and Southeast Asia since the last century, advised young people to study Chinese and world history.
He said it is important to understand the past, as what happened before will happen again.
