An 11-month-old male lion that escaped from a farmhouse caused panic in a residential area in eastern Pakistan last week.

Video footage showed the pet lion leaping over a wall and charging at passersby down a busy street in Lahore. A police report said it knocked down a woman and turned to her two children - aged five and seven - clawing their arms and faces. All three victims were taken to hospital but were not in a critical condition. The lion was later returned to the owners' farmhouse and sent to a wildlife park.

Police said they had arrested three men, who were the owners of the lion, on charges of attempted murder and neglect. It is reported that the escape happened after someone forgot to lock the cage during a cleanup.

Authorities have repeatedly stressed the feeding ban on wild animals in private properties.
