Hamas and Israel are staking out their positions ahead of expected talks on a U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists "there will be no Hamas" after the war while the Palestinian group says it is open to an agreement that would end the war.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press says it has obtained footage from two Americans showing Palestinians coming under gunfire at aid distribution sites in Gaza.

Desperate Palestinians walking a caged path towards a Gaza Humanitarian Foundation aid distribution site.

The sound of gunfire causes panic. They try to flee from a cloud of tear gas. Another round of gunfire and tear gas.

Chaos as some Palestinians with aid sacks, many others without, try to escape but are trapped by fences on either side.

Inside the aid site, a man with an American accent is heard saying "I don't want this to be too aggressive" as more gunfire rings out.

A few yelps of triumph and another voice is heard saying "I think you hit one."

The Associated Press obtained this footage from two American members of the GHF who were "disturbed" by the events and requested anonymity.

A spokesperson for Safe Reach Solutions, the logistics company subcontracted by GHF, told the AP that there have been no serious injuries at any of their sites to date.

It said security personnel fired live rounds into the ground and away from civilians to get their attention.

Gaza authorities say close to 600 people have been killed near the aid sites across the Gaza Strip.

A 60-day ceasefire deal between Israel and Gaza rulers Hamas is being proposed by the United States, which would allow a surge of aid across borders that are now blocked by Israel.

The U.S. says Israel has accepted the proposal, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying he would never accept a future "Hamastan," meaning Hamas would have no presence in post-war Gaza.

Netanyahu is due at the White House on Monday to meet U.S. President Donald Trump, who is urging Hamas to accept a deal that is "not going to get any better but only worse."

Hamas officials were scheduled to meet with Egyptian and Qatari mediators in Cairo to discuss the deal.

Hamas says it wants a permanent end to the war and they are willing to release the remaining 50 hostages, less than half of whom are believed to be alive.

Meanwhile, the funeral was held in Gaza City for Dr. Marwan al-Sultan, the director of the Indonesia Hospital, who was killed in an apartment along with his wife and daughter and son-in-law.

Their bodies arrived at Shifa Hospital "in pieces," according to one official.

A surviving daughter, Lubna, said the cardiologist was not affiliated to any group and that an air-launched missile targeted his room precisely.
