Foreign Minister Wang Yi met senior EU officials on his visit to Belgium.
During the meetings, Wang said China and the EU must uphold multilateralism and free trade, and jointly address global challenges.
On Wednesday, Wang Yi met European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels.
Wang said the more complex and challenging the global situation becomes, the more China and the EU, as "two major civilisations and forces," need to enhance mutual trust and serve as forces of global stability while standing by multilateralism and free trade.
He said China is willing to deepen economic cooperation with Europe and address differences, aiming for win-win results.
Von der Leyen said she looks forward to in-depth discussions with Chinese leaders on issues of mutual concern, highlighting the EU's commitment to developing stable and constructive ties with China and mutually beneficial trade cooperation, while jointly addressing global challenges such as climate change.
Wang Yi also visited the European Council building and met President Antonio Costa.
Wang said that regardless of Europe's circumstances, whether in good times or bad -- China continues to support European integration and welcomes a more "strategically autonomous EU" that plays a larger role on the global stage while warning that unilateralism and bullying gravely damage the international order and rules.
On Ukraine, Wang said China is playing a constructive role in urging peace talks.
Costa said despite their differences, Europe is willing to respect China.
Wang next visited Egmont Palace for talks with Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot.
Wang said China is further easing market access and facilitating travel between China and Belgium.
He hopes Europe will view China's development positively and pursues a rational and pragmatic policy towards China.
Prevot, meanwhile, said China is Belgium's most important trading partner.
Regardless of global developments, Belgium wishes to be China's friend.
