427 people receive awards from the government

The 2025 Honours List are published today, with 427 awards given out.

Nine award are related to the recipients' work in the field of national security.

This year's Honours List features about 70 fewer recipients than the previous year.

Three individuals receive the Grand Bauhinia Medal -- the highest honour in the city's award system: 

They include Lawrence Fung, founder and chairman of Hong Kong Economic Times Group, who is recognised by his work in the field of media, economy and education.

Charles Yeung, founder and chairman of the Glorious Sun Group, is awarded for his work in the promotion in economic collaboration between Hong Kong and the mainland.

And Leong Chi-yan, who is a former chairman of the Hospital Authority and an internationally renowned specialist in orthopaedic surgery.

Secretary for Justice Paul Lam, former Police Commissioner Raymond Siu and Kan Kai-yan, deputy police commissioner (national security) are among the 20 Gold Bauhinia Star recipients.

The 29 Silver Bauhinia Star awardees include Ho Pui-shan, former Commissioner of Customs and Excise and Vivian Kong, Olympic gold medallist in fencing.

Li Kwai-wah, police chief superintendent for national security, is one of the 46 Bronze Bauhinia Star recipients.

Three athletes received the Bronze award after winning gold medals at the Paris Paralympics.

The government also appointed 66 Justices of the Peace, including Kelvin Yeung, former Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism and Lam Sai-hung, former Secretary for Transport and Logistics.
