Free and discounted rides to mark 28th anniversary of establishment of HKSAR

Today is the 28th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, various types of transport are free or offer discounts.

The MTR launched a lucky draw on its mobile app, giving away 71,000 electronic tickets. Winning passengers can take one local designated route for free within six months.

Children aged 3 to 11 can ride the Airport Express for free, and citizens aged 60 or above can ride at half price.

Trams are free from today until the 3rd, and the Star Ferry route between Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai is also free.

At the Star Ferry Pier in Tsim Sha Tsui, sponsors set up stalls and gave away gifts such as giant panda dolls to celebrate the return.
