The Leisure and Cultural Services Department has announced a reformed hiring policy and measures for its performance venues.
Under the new policy, the Hong Kong Coliseum, which has been given priority for sports events, will be accorded priority for concerts. The department says more slots will be offered to concert organisers, helping the promotion of a concert economy.
The East Kowloon Cultural Centre, which will be in operation by the end of the year, will be reserved as a venue for long-duration performances and art technology.
Meanwhile, the Auditorium in Sha Tin Town Hall will be dedicated to Cantonese opera performances.
