The Observatory will issue the Standby Signal No. 1 at 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

The area of low pressure over the central and northern parts of the South China Sea has intensified into a tropical depression.

It is expected to move northwest in the general direction of the vicinity of Leizhou Peninsula to the eastern part of Hainan Island today and tomorrow (25 and 26 June). The Observatory will issue the Standby Signal, No. 1 at 2:20 p.m. today.

Under the influence of the tropical depression, there will be a few showers tonight, and more showers with squally thunderstorms tomorrow.

It will be windier offshore and on high ground tonight and early tomorrow. There will be swells. Members of the public please take note of the latest weather information.
