President Xi Jinping meets visiting Singapore PM Lawrence Wong in Beijing

President Xi Jinping met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Beijing today.
Xi said China stands ready to work with Singapore to strengthen strategic communication and boost cooperation to jointly respond to challenges and bring greater benefits to both peoples.
Xi congratulated Wong on leading Singapore's People's Action Party to victory in the general election in May, continuing his tenure as prime minister.
For his part, Wong said bilateral ties hold even greater significance amid global uncertainty.
He called for closer cooperation to uphold multilateralism and international order.
Wong is on an official visit to China on the invitation of Premier Li Qiang. Li had hosted a welcome ceremony for Wong when he arrived in Beijing Sunday for a five-day visit, his first as prime minister.
