Iran's foreign minister is due to meet the top diplomats of France, Germany, Britain and the EU in Geneva.

This after U.S. President Donald Trump said he is going to decide within two weeks if the U.S. will carry out military strikes on Iran.

Meanwhile, Israel and iran have traded missiles and aerial strikes for an eighth consecutive day.

An eerie calm in Iran.

Normally bustling Tehran with empty, silent streets.

Very few cars and even fewer people.

There was an uptick in the number of people trying to cross the border into Turkey.

Many have fled metropolitan areas following Israeli airstrikes in Tehran and beyond and the fear that the U.S. are about to join.

For now, Israel is the only country striking Iran, its aerial defence capabilities among the targets.

Donald Trump supports Israel's bombing of nuclear sites and their targeting of Iran's ability to retaliate.

The U.S. president says he needs more time to decide if the U.S. will launch its own strikes on Iran.

Karoline Leavitt, White House Press Secretary says:"Based on the fact that there's a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks. That's a quote directly from the president for all of you today.

As Iran's foreign minister heads to Geneva to meet with European diplomats, Trump says Abbas Araghchi was offered a deal in recent nuclear talks with the U.S. that was, according to Trump, "realistic and acceptable."

Before heading to Switzerland, Araghchi told state TV in Tehran: "Iran is not seeking negotiations while Israel's attacks continue."

Araghchi says Iran will not surrender and believes other countries will distance themselves from Israel's aggression and call for this war to end.

China's Permanent Representative to the U.N. Fu Cong says there should be an immediate ceasefire to kick-start more nuclear negotiations.

Stephane Dujarric, Spokesman for UN Secretary-General, hopes something can come from the talks: "For the secretary general, for us, it remains clear that diplomacy is the only and best way forward. Let's see what comes out of this meeting. but the fact that there is a dialog between Iran and those three European countries is positive in itself, but obviously we'll have to see what the outcome is.

But Iran and Israel are still fighting.

Israel issued multiple air raid alerts across the country.

It comes after a hospital was hit 24 hours earlier for which the Israeli defence minister directly blamed Iran's supreme leader.

Israel Katz then said his military "has been instructed and knows in order to achieve all of its goals, this man (Ayatollah Ali Khamenei) should not continue to exist."

Eighty patients and medics were wounded in a strike on the Soroka Medical Centre in the southern city of Beersheba.

Most missiles are still being intercepted by Israel's defences or broken into fragments which fall to earth.

Damage recorded in CCTV footage shows smoke and debris from this partly repelled ballistic missile that blew a hole in the pavement of an empty street.
