CHP updates antimicrobial guidelines

The Centre for Health Protection has updated its guidelines to avoid over-prescription of antimicrobial drugs in hospitalised patients.
The update comes in view of the evolving situation of antimicrobial resistance, together with a number of experts, based on local antimicrobial resistance data and the latest international literature.
CHP also held a forum today with more than 150 public and private healthcare professionals in attendance.
It introduced the treatment of common infectious diseases, the recommended dosage of individual antimicrobial drugs and their adverse reactions.
CHP is appealing to all doctors in the city to take note of the updated guidelines, which have been revised for the sixth time since its formulation in 1999.
