Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn said the bitumen-coated water pipes that led to sediment issues at Queen's Hill Estate and Shan Lai Court in Fanling will be permanently decommissioned.

Linn said temporary above-ground water pipes will be installed and are expected to be completed by early July and permanent underground pipelines are expected to be ready by the end of the year.

She said since June 7th, more than 1,500 residents have requested flushing of their water meters, after black sediment was found in the drinking water earlier. She said most residents reported improved water quality and no further follow-up was needed in their cases.
