ROMOSS, the mainland portable mobile phone charger brand, has recalled about 500,000 of its products over fears of potential fire hazards.

A fire broke out on a Hong Kong Airlines plane in March, caused by the company's power bank.

On Monday, ROMOSS said it would recall some of its products manufactured between June 2023 and July 2024 because of potential fire hazards.

The company said those products could overheat in extreme cases because of the battery cell materials.

ROMOSS says affected customers can obtain refunds or exchange for a new product that meets safety requirements.

This is not the first time the company has recalled its products. In 2019, a Guangdong customer said the company's power bank overheated and caused a fire at night. ROMOSS later recalled more than 3,000 items.
