Hong Kong has banned the mobile application "Reversed Front" under the National Security Law, explaining that the game advocated for Hong Kong and Taiwan independence.

Speaking ahead of the Executive Council meeting, Chief Executive John Lee expressed that the move would not contribute to limiting personal freedoms of residents.

Lee said: "The mobile application in question was released under the guise of a game with the aim of promoting secessionist agendas of Taiwan independence and Hong Kong independence. This endangers national security and the government will always take strict enforcement action in accordance with the law for all activities and acts endangering national security."

He explained that the National Security law is aimed only at a small portion of people who endanger national security, with arrests under the National Security Law making up only 0.2% of people out of the 30,000 total arrests each year. Lee said: "It is really a very small portion. So, for the day-to-day activities carries out by normal citizens, they are very well protected to freely go about their daily activities and that is thanks to the Hong Kong National Security Law restoring stability, security and order in Hong Kong.
