The Consumer Council has received close to 1,000 complaints against food delivery platforms in the first five months of the year.
In the latest edition of their "Choice" magazine, the Council also revealed the finding of allergenic metals in some eyeshadow products.
The Consumer Council is reminding food delivery platforms to improve their service after receiving close to 1,000 complaints against operators in the first five months of the year.
The complaints include delivery timing issues, as well as wrong deliveries.
In one case, before the food was delivered, the order had already shown an "arrived" message.
In the end, the delivery was delayed by one hour.
However, because of a further error shown in the system, the platform refused to compensate the customer until a complaint was made to the Council.
In another case, the customer cancelled the order one minute after ordering but did not receive a refund.
While the Council acknowledges fierce competition within the food delivery industry, it stresses that competitive pricing must be matched with reliable delivery and customer services.
Meanwhile, the Council also discovered heavy metal elements in 80 percent of eyeshadow product samples it tested recently.
Out of the 25 products tested, 20 of them contain metals that can cause allergy to users.
A number of samples are also found with inadequate information on ingredients.
The Council urges manufacturers to better label ingredients and asks consumers to be more aware of the constituents of the products.
